**Advanced copy provided by NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review**It's no secret to anyone that I love hockey and romance novels. Put them together and I'm always a happy camper. Throw in the city where I've lived for going on a decade and that makes it even better! In this fifth book in the Pilots Hockey series, Sophia Henry takes us on a wonderful journey of loss, finding yourself and figuring out how to put one foot in front of the other when things get tough.
Luke Daniels has lived and breathed hockey for as long as he can remember. It was always his goal to play in the NHL and to make that his career. He accomplished that, but a clean hit not only injured him, but ultimately ended his career. As he struggled to figure out how to live his life as a former player, he looked to the other things in his life to help fill the void, including volunteering at the Charlotte Children's Hospital.
Brianna (Bree) Collins needed a change of scenery. She needed out of California and away from her parents and brother. Most of all, she needed to be her own person for once in her life. Because of this, she applied to be a traveling nurse and ended up selecting Charlotte, NC as her destination. While working her shift at the children's hospital, Bree encounters the man who she thought was her one night stand, but there seems to be more of a connection between them than that even if she wasn't looking for any kind of relationship.
As Bree and Luke start spending more and more time together, it becomes apparent that they are both good for one another. It's a case of coming into one another's life at just the right time and both having life experience that is helpful for the other. Will they be able to navigate the fact that Bree both will be leaving and isn't crazy about being in a committed relationship and will Luke be able to put his past behind him and realize that family helps to shape you, but it doesn't mean you'll make the same mistakes?
I adored this book, just like I have this entire series. This one was exceptionally fun for me because I am so familiar with so many of the local haunts that Sophia showcased throughout this book. Not only did it help to enhance the story, but hopefully it painted an awesome picture of a really great city in the state of North Carolina! I would highly recommend you pick up this book!

Breakaway A Pilots Hockey Novel edition by Sophia Henry Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
Wow this series is amazing. I loved Luke and Bree. They both developed feelings for each other. They were perfect for other. Helped each other though their troubles. Great book
Not your typical hockey romance novel. I enjoyed reading this book, the storyline was fresh and interesting and main characters believable. Totally worth reading
I loved the relationship between Bree and Luke. It was fun, as some relationships start...but then it became real and raw. Neither is perfect. Both have baggage. Luke's backstory was heartbreaking. I still love how he treats his mom. Breakaway is like Henry's others a tad women's fiction with a sexy romance thread. Great addition to the series!
Just when I thought Sophia Henry had outdone herself, along came BREAKAWAY to blow that idea right out of the arena!
The immediate chemistry between Luke and Bree, along with Bree's sassy seductive nature will leave you wanting to take your own "Luke" for a spin. BREAKAWAY is a must read, must have book!
Each novel in the Pilots Hockey Series has grabbed me, pulled me in, and taken me for a humor filled, sometimes emotional, always spicy mini-vacation. I can't wait to see what Ms. Henry has in store for us next!
When an injury sidelines Luke from playing the game that defines his life, he’s ready to throw in the towel but is quickly rescued by a friend of a friend, Bree. She’s more than he could ever dream up both in and out if the bedroom.
Bree and Luke’s lives couldn’t have been more different but fate throws them together and they can’t get enough of each other until things happen out of their control that could possibly end their time together.
Lies, booze, and family could tear them apart but can love overcome?
I absolutely loved this book by Sophia Henry. This is a great series, but you don't have to read all of the books to before to follow along but it is nice to. Bree is a nurse that wants to get away from her troubles at home so she takes a job in North Carolina. Luke Daniels is a player for the NHL team the aviators and he was injured and has been rehabbing and hoping to get back in the ice but he learns that it is a career ending injury. These two are great together and seeing how they make each other grow and learn to move on. This is one of my foavirites of this series.
Can fate be a real thing. We meet Luke Daniels one of the best players on the Charlotte Aviators, but when an injury sidelines his career his life does a complete 180 and you try and put everything into perspective but sometimes someone comes into your life at the most unexpected moments and that happens when Bree Collins comes along.
Bree Collins is trying to change her life by moving forward and finally doing what will make her happy. A Pediatric Nurse on temporary assignment in North Carolina meets up with a friend to do some fun things and that is when she meets Luke Daniels.
Luke & Bree are both at a crossroads in their life and spending time together seems like the perfect thing for them but as feelings start developing do they continue on or put a stop to it all. There will be many emotions as you read their story but one thing is for sure you will be cheering them on because every turn of the page you can see how good they are for one another and you hope they realize it too.
